Turquoise was one of the first gemstones ever mined, possibly dating back to 6000 BC in Egypt, where fine pieces were buried with their mummies. Turquoise was mined for more than 3,000 years in Persia and is still found in U.S. mines in Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico. The Aztecs used Turquoise, and good turquoise is still produced in Mexico and other countries.
Colors range from sky blue to green, and is often identified by origin and color. We usually have turquoise in our store from several different sources.
